The standards we check your store against
-
WCAG 2.2
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). W3C published it as a Recommendation, its word for a finished standard, on December 12, 2024. We check your store against its Level AA. We don't check against its highest level, AAA, and we never claim a store meets it.
-
EN 301 549
The European standard for accessible technology. We check two versions, because the later one adds the requirements that came in with WCAG 2.2. They're version 4.1.1, from September 2026, and version 3.2.1, from March 2021.
-
Section 508
The US Access Board's Revised Section 508 Standards. They use WCAG 2.0's Level A and AA. Our WCAG 2.2 checks cover all of them but one, Parsing, which WCAG 2.2 removed because it was no longer useful.
-
WCAG 3.0
W3C is still writing it: a draft, not a finished standard. We don't check against it yet.
On your store, every requirement gets its own result, even if it's only "not tested." How we check each one is on our Method page.
We check our own website too
We give our own site the same automated check we run on stores: every page, same rules. Last run on November 6, 2026. Here's how we did it, and what doesn't work yet.
