We fix the accessibility problems on your Shopify store
We find what stops shoppers with disabilities on your Shopify store. We fix it in your theme's own code, then we keep checking.
No onboarding fee. Any Shopify theme.
Every day, the way to checkout
- Your homepage
- A search
- A collection
- A product
- Adding it to the cart
- The cart
- The first page of checkout
We check your store every day, and whenever it changes
Here's what we look at, and how often. A person signs off every result before you see it.
- Every day, the way to checkout
- Your homepage, a search, a collection, a product, adding it to the cart, the cart, and the first page of checkout.
- Every other page, in turn
- Each day we also check some of your other pages, starting with the ones that have waited longest since we last looked. Every page gets its turn within 30 days on Engage, 14 on Resolve and seven on Defend.
- Every week, and after any change
- Every week we look wider: your homepage, a search, the cart, the sign-in and create-account pages, and the page a broken link shows. Then pages of every other kind, with products of every sort among them. When a new theme goes live or an app first shows up, we run that check again right away.
- On a computer, a phone, and zoomed right in
- Every page at three widths. The third is how your store looks to someone who zooms right in.
- Your emails
- We sign up with an inbox of our own. Then we check the newest email of each kind your store sends, as a mail program shows it.
- By keyboard, by ear, and in person
- We test every page by keyboard when you join, every month, and after each new theme. On Resolve we also use two screen readers, which read the page aloud, and on Defend three. Twice a year on Defend, people with disabilities shop your store and tell us what got in their way.
Each fix reaches your store only after you say yes
Every fix is a change to your theme's own code. We don't bolt anything onto your store, and nothing goes live until you say yes.
Make the cart table headings dark enough to read
.cart-items th { text-align: left; padding-bottom: 1.8rem; opacity: 0.85; font-weight: normal; }
- You set up two keys for us
- We fix a hidden copy
- You say yes
- The fix goes live
- We check again
-
You set up two keys for us
You set up a theme password and a collaborator account for us. Delete either one any time, and that access ends.
-
We fix a hidden copy
We write the fix on an unpublished copy of your live theme. We check that only the fix changed and that it works, then send you a preview link.
-
You say yes
Look at the preview. If it's good to go, just reply and tell us.
-
The fix goes live
On Engage, your developer publishes it. On Resolve and Defend, we publish it once you approve in writing. On every plan, the theme that was live before stays in your theme library. We never delete a theme we didn't make.
-
We check again
Our next check confirms the problem is gone. If your developer copies the change in by hand, we'll see that too.
You'll know which problems come from your apps
-
We name your apps
In your first month, you get a list of your apps and the problems that trace to each. We update it whenever your apps change. If we don't recognize an app, we show you its code, so you or your developer can tell what it is.
-
We tell you whose it is
Each problem gets a straight answer: your theme, an app, or your store's own words and pictures. If more than one could be behind it, we won't single one out. And if we can't tell yet, we'll tell you.
-
A message ready for each maker
We can't change an app's own code, so we write its maker a message. On Engage you send it; on Resolve and Defend, we do, and follow it up.
Checkout is Shopify's, and we still check it
- Shopify's checkout pages
- Shopify runs the pages where shoppers enter their details, shipping and payment, and no store can change that code. We still check the first page every day.
- Telling Shopify
- When we find a problem in checkout, we point it out. You can write to Shopify about it at accessibility@shopify.com.
- Shopify's sign-in pages
- If your store sends shoppers to Shopify's own pages to sign in, we check those too. We never count a problem there as your theme's.
One fix, start to finish, on our own store
On narrow screens, our store's earlier theme put product pictures in a strip that scrolls sideways. The keyboard couldn't stop on it, so keyboard shoppers went straight past every picture. Two lines in one file fixed it: now the keyboard stops there, a ring shows, and screen readers name it Gallery Viewer. Every picture, in reach.
Pick how much we take off your hands
Three months to start, then month to month. Each price covers one Shopify storefront in one language, up to 1,000 pages and 25 apps. Bigger store? It costs a fixed amount more each month, and we'll tell you yours on the call.
