What each app is doing on your store
For each app: who makes it, how we know it's there, and what traces back to it.
- The app
-
Its name, who makes it and what it does.
- How we know
-
The code it leaves on your store's pages. If we don't recognize an app, we show you its code.
- First seen
-
The check that first saw it, and whether it's still there.
- Its problems
-
Each problem traced to it, where it shows, and on how many pages.
- Whose move
-
On Engage, we write the message and you send it to the app's maker. On Resolve and Defend, we take it to them and follow it up.
How we tell an app's problem from your theme's
We don't guess.
-
Whose problem it is
For every problem, we tell you whose it is: your theme's, an app's, or your store's own words and pictures. If we can't tell yet, we say so.
How you can check it
Each problem an app caused shows you the app and the code tying them, its script's address or its block.
-
Named from its own code
We name an app only from the code it leaves on your pages. If we can't see its code, we don't name it.
How you can check it
Look in the list: beside each app is the code we found it by.
-
When it could be several
When the checks can't tell which app caused a problem, we don't point at just one.
How you can check it
It's listed under each app that could be behind it.
-
A new app, a fresh check
When an app first appears, we check every kind of page again at once.
How you can check it
On our test store, we first saw Chatty on September 28, 2026, and began checking every kind of page again right after. Your record shows the same for every app.
For your developer: Next to each app are the codes that tie it to your pages. Shopify calls them an app id, a theme extension or an app block, and you'll find them in the page's source.
Where it fits
Every check takes note of your apps, so this list keeps up as they change.
- We check your store , This comes from here
- We start near checkout
